Fertility Testing for Women

Fertility Blood Test, £175

This is one of our most commonly requested tests. The test is to assess 3 hormones- follicle stimulating hormone( FSH), luteinizing hormone ( LH) and oestradiol. The test assesses egg production and ovarian reserve. The test is taken between days 2 and 5 of the hormone cycle.

One in 10 couples are unable to conceive

Getting pregnant is not always successful for all couples. Approximately one in 10 couples are unable to conceive without further assistance. There can be many different reasons for this. We are able to offer a range of fertility tests to help better understand what the challenges may be. Our tests are only part of the process of investigation and any couple with fertility may want to consider specialist assistance.

We test for Anti-Müllerian hormone ( AMH)

Anti-Müllerian hormone may have a role in regulating sex steroid production in puberty and in the adult ovaries and testes. In the ovaries, anti-Müllerian hormone appears to be important in the early stages of development of the follicles, which contain and support the eggs prior to fertilization. The more ovarian follicles a woman has, the more anti-Müllerian hormone her ovaries can produce, and so AMH can be measured in the bloodstream to assess how many follicles a woman has left in her ovaries: her ‘ovarian reserve’.

Test for ovarian reserve

This is a measure of the number of eggs remaining in the ovaries. AMH is produced by future generations of eggs, not those in your current cycle and therefore is a good measure of future fertility. Read more about the test here.
