Destination Information for Jordan

In 2007, the site of Petra in the southwestern desert was made one of the New Wonders of the World. The archeological site is famed for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system, which dates back to around 300BC. Petra, nicknamed the ‘Rose Red City’ after the colour of the carved stone, is the top tourist destination in Jordan and attracts nearly a million visitors each year.

Another popular attraction in Jordan is the Dead Sea, which at 431 metres beneath sea level, is the lowest point on earth. The water here contains salts and minerals with rejuvenating properties, so your skin will be thanking you after a dip!
