Mexico

Mexico has a lot to offer tourists, from beautiful scenery such as the idyllic beaches to fascinating history like the ancient Mayan and Aztec settlements. If you're looking to relax, resorts such as Cancún, Playa del Carmen and the island of Cozumel are situated on an incredible coastline in the gulf of Mexico. The wildlife in this area of Mexico makes this region even more special, as snorkelers can explore the reefs for tropical fish, while dolphin and stingray swims are also available.

Travel Health Information

Before leaving for Mexico, we recommend getting vaccinated against Hepatitis A and Diphtheria. If you plan to travel outside of the capital city, a Malaria consultation is also recommended. For longer stays in the country, you should also be vaccinated against Hepatitis B. It may also be relevant to supplement with vaccinations against Canine Dementia, Typhoid and Tuberculosis.

The vaccines mentioned above are the general recommendations from the health authorities. When you attend a travel vaccine consultation appointment, your specific conditions are reviewed, including vaccination history and expected activities at the destination. Our specialist team will then be able to provide a specific recommendation of appropriate vaccinations and/or treatments.

Malaria:

There is a low risk of malaria in Mexico, mainly in rural areas which are rarely visited by tourists. There is low risk in some areas of the state of Chiapas (Costa) and very low risk in areas of the states of Chihuahua, Durango, Nayarit, Quintana Roo and Sinaloa. If you are travelling to any of these areas, please mention this in your travel consultation appointment so that our specialist team can give you the most up to date advice on malaria protection (if necessary).
