What is Progesterone?
Progesterone is mainly secreted by the corpus luteum in the ovary during the second half of the menstrual cycle. It plays an important role in the menstrual cycle and in maintaining the early stages of pregnancy
The synthetic hormones that have a similar action to progesterone are called ‘progestins’.
How do you test your Progesterone levels?
This test is carried out on day 21 of your cycle. The release of an egg in your cycle on day 14 will produce a progesterone surge.
The test is carried out to test if ovulation has taken place
